A Message from the Council on the Attack in Orlando

The words are difficult to find to express our grief, sadness and loss for those killed and wounded in Orlando. We are heart broken and we stand with our LGBT sisters and brothers and straight allies in this terrible time. In our common home we need to feel safe and our home, our sanctuary has been violated, for this we are very saddened.

We must find not only words but actions to be able to move forward. When we pray, we must find acts of justice, mercy and compassion. When we come together, we must find expressions of support, affirmation and advocacy. When we speak, we must find ways to communicate our true selves, our dreams and our hope. When we act, we must be strong, courageous and loving. We must be people of peace. We must show love where there is hatred. We can bring unity where there is chaos and light where there is deep darkness. We can bring joy to those who experience sadness and hope to those who are in despair.

We can find words and acts. We will move forward together. Love will win when we all stand together.
